Baby & Me

Our baby and toddler group classes are SO MUCH FUN! For 3 and under. Babies can start swim lessons as young as two weeks.

Meet a community of parents with similar aged children, have a great time playing, splashing and learning. There will be no other time where you will have the opportunity to learn and bond like this.

Just for Kids

Your child will learn, grow, play and swim with other children of similar age and skill level.

For children age 2.5+, we have small groups of 3-4 students, where your child will challenge themselves in a fun environment. Each level has slightly varying skill abilities, to encourage growth.

Private

One-on-one lessons with your child (or you!) and the instructor. Learn to swim safely, effectively and gently.

Some benefits of private swim lessons include: dedicated one-on-one attention, curriculum flexibility, and the ability to work on and master multiple aspects of swimming in a short time.

lessons with one caregiver in the water

A group swimming lesson is a 25-minute block of time where participants will work together with Julie in a group setting. Different, progressive skills will be taught through the 9-week curriculum. Students will stay at the level until you are ready to graduate. All classes are billed monthly (based on the number of weeks in the month) to allow you to have the same day and time every week. You may join the class at any time and your first month will be pro-rated to reflect the number of weeks in the month.

SEa Otters

baby%252Bbonding.jpg

For infants, 2 WEEKS through 8 MONTHS

Sea Otters allows for the littlest swimmers to learn, grow and bond with caregivers.

Early exposure to water is linked to so many beneficial attributes, like early walking, greater immunity, and high self-esteem. Not to mention an added layer of safety around the water.

Babies are born with the natural ability to hold their breath and kick - an instinct they lose anywhere from 2 – 8 months, so the earlier they get in the water, the more we can build on their natural ability! Our special, optional, hoola-hoop activity in one of the final weeks of the swimester demonstrates their natural instincts.

This class is taught with 6-7 children per class + a caregiver.

Manatees

for babies, 6 through 24 MONTHS

Manatees tend to be a bit older and animated than the littlest Sea Otters. The class focuses on happy swimmers, teaching the parents the skills they need to feel comfortable in the water with their child. Reinforcing safety routines while keeping the lesson fun is the main goal of this level.

Skills covered include: floating, kicking, submersion, and safety. As each child develops, new skills are added to keep the process fun and inviting. The Manatee group is both a good place to begin to learn to swim, and a place for the little ones (Sea Otters) to graduate.

This class is taught with 6-7 children per class + a caregiver.

Sea Turtles

for Advanced toddlers, 18 Months- 3 years

DSCF2051.jpg

This class is for students who need a bit more than the Manatee class. They will learn all the basic safety skills and terminology. Students in this class are introduced to floating, submersion and safety skills, independent swimming, breath-work and stroke development.

All students in this class are returning swimmers. If you are interested in this level, talk to your instructor about whether or not your child would benefit from participating in this class. If you are unable to find a Sea Turtle class that fits your schedule the Moray Eel class will be a good fit.

Moray eels

This class has an emphasis on making toddlers and young children comfortable around the water. They will learn all the basic safety skills and terminology. Students in this class are introduced to floating, submersion and safety skills, independent swimming, breath-work and stroke development.

This class is taught with 4-5 children per class + a caregiver.

STingrays

They will begin to learn the basics of breath-work and stroke development. This class will give first-timers the special attention that goes along with learning the basic routine of the swimming classes at SWP, terminology and safety skills that are required to move to the next level. They will continue in this level until they can master the skills listed in the Baby Beluga paragraph below.

This class is taught with up to 3 children per class.

Beluga

Belugas will continue to practice the basics of all four strokes, stamina, breathing skills and form. Once they have mastered the length of the pool and the basic stroke forms, they will move to the next level.

If your child is at least four years old, has had lessons before, is independently (no flotation devices) swimming the width of the pool AND can independently take a breath while swimming (without assistance), you may register for a Baby Beluga class instead of a Sunfish.
